With Perez securing his best grid slot since Miami, all the way back in May, Red Bull is already halfway through. The odds are incredibly generous for this one, and we absolutely have to grab the chance. ![]() Race Prediction #1: Red Bull Double Podium F1 Predictions for This Weekend’s Grand Prix Because of his gearbox penalty, Verstappen will line up down in sixth place – but the defending Belgian GP winner should still be considered the favorite. After setting the second-best time with his banker, the Dutchman returned to the track and lapped on a 1:46.168 to go 0.82s faster than Leclerc. In Q3, there were no scares for Verstappen. Oscar Piastri led the second part of the qualifying session. The Dutchman made a mistake through Speaker’s Corner and could only managed the 10th fastest time, but did just enough to advance into Q3. In a surprising turn of events, Verstappen found himself down in 11th, needing a good lap to secure the transfer spot. With drivers going for slicks in the final run, the order was shaken up quite significantly. Q2 was a bit more hectic, as the sun came out and a dry line emerged. Leclerc led the way in Q1, with no surprises among the drivers in the drop zone. As the session got going, the track quickly dried up, with times tumbling lap after lap. Qualifying for the Grand Prix started on a wet track, following a ten-minute delay. Charles Leclerc inherited pole, his second of the year, ahead of Sergio Perez and Lewis Hamilton. The Dutchman led the field by over eight tenths, but due to a gearbox change, Verstappen will line up in sixth place. Max Verstappen was fastest in qualifying on Friday, but he won’t be lining up on pole Sunday. Will anyone actually challenge Verstappen this time? While Hamilton beat Verstappen to pole by 0.003s in Hungary, the Dutchman still went on to lead all 70 laps from the front row. It could have easily been a double podium, but once again Oscar Piastri drew the short end of the stick on pit strategy. Is McLaren the real number 2 force right now? The Hungaroring posed an interesting question for McLaren, but the British team quickly provided the answer with another podium result. There are a few exciting things that we need to watch out for in the upcoming Belgian GP… He was joined on the podium by Sergio Perez, who finally put an end to his streak of missing out on Q3. The British driver has not finished lower than fourth with McLaren’s latest upgraded package, including back-to-back runner-up finishes at Silverstone and at the Hungaroring. Once again, the Dutchman enters the weekend as the undeniable favorite. Despite narrowly missing out on a sixth consecutive pole position, the Dutchman quickly made up for it in the race, overtaking polesitter Lewis Hamilton before turn 1 and sailing to a 33-second win.
